About Shay: Shay pays great attention to detail and is by all accounts a perfectionist. She holds her students, her friends and her family to that same standard and it has often caused trouble in the past (and will probably continue to do so in the future!). She strives to be fair and open-minded but doesn't always succeed. She is stubborn and although she tried to be diplomatic in all her dealings she sometimes gets hung up on small details rather than the whole picture.  She loves designer clothing and has an especial love of purses & handbags.

Shay is pretty health conscious and does her best to eat healthy. Junk food is very rarely eaten by her or allowed in her presence (mostly at Raven's expense).Shay's health consciousness extends to her younger sister out of a sense of concern and love for her.

Currently Shay teaches introductory level classes at Quinlan University. She took her position at Quinlan in 2001, after leaving Iska Falls Academy located just outside Chicago.

Shay has had a hard time the last couple of years–her parents, accomplished archeologists, went missing on a dig. Unfortunately this left Shay to take responsibility and care of her younger sister, Raven.

Her relationship with Raven has been a strained one since they were younger and the current situation has not improved it any.

Shay has had to do some serious re-adjusting of her living arrangements and finances because of Raven's arrival. For the first year that their parents were missing she paid the parents of Raven’s best friend to care and watch for her.... However, it was during that time that Shay realized that she couldn't’t continue to handle the increased financial burden (Quinlan is prestigious but doesn't’t pay as well as you’d think). Instead Shay pulled some strings and called in favors to get her sister accepted at Q.U..

Shay’s Personal Life: Although she seems uptight and prudish, Shay has a wilder side. Unfortunately it very rarely seen. She drinks little, goes out little, and spends more of her time correcting student papers and projects than anything else. She’s stressed, and caught up in doing and seeming the part of a professional in an attempt to ensure job stability (there are plenty of young enchanters out there who’d love to snake her job).

She’s very rarely relaxed, and although not high strung she has a short fuse. She does her best not to display a full-out temper attack (she feels that doing so degrades her in the eyes of others and marks her as someone with limited self-control), but her sharp tongue and biting comments can be vicious at times. When Shay's temper and sense of justice are wronged she will find subtle ways of getting even with those who have wronged her.

Romantically Speaking:  Shay’s been engaged once, and he broke it off (although they mutually agreed it was for the best). Shay doesn’t feel she has time for romance, and although she wishes there was someone special in her life, she sublimates her desires into her work.
